==What is horticulture?==
Horticulture is the science of cultivation of trees, fruits, vegetables, flowers, garden plants, grass patches etc. [[File:Horticulture.jpg|300px|right|alt= horticulture-a miniature orange plant|Ornamental horticulture]]
Horticulture encompasses wide variety of subjects like crop production, plant propagation, plant genetics, plant physiology and biochemistry.

This work also involves maintenance of nurseries, pest and weed control, improving the plant propagation methods, transport, storage and transportation of produce, and maintenance of mother plants.

The term agriculture is used for the above activities when done on a large scale involving one or two crops. When done at a garden level and in a small scale the same activities are called horticulture.

Many science disciplines like botany, zoology, biology, entomology, physics, chemistry, statistics, information technology, mathematics, genetics, landscaping and architecture complement horticulture. Horticulture is divided into ornamental plant cultivation and cultivation of plants for food.

All wines need some degree of acidity in order to be balanced and avoid tasting flabby or dull. Acidity is also a key component in food and wine pairing so its presence in wine is important with winemakers trying to harvest grapes before acid levels fall too low.

McGovern (director of the Molecular Archaeology Laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania Museum) in his book 'Ancient Wine: The Search for the Origins of Viniculture' proposes modern-day Georgia and Armenia as the likely sites of the domestication of the Eurasian wine grape some 8,000 years ago.

From here, the viticulture spread to northwestern Iran at Hajji Firuz Tepe by 5400 B.C. "There is also evidence of grape domestication in the Near East in the early Bronze Age, around 3200 BC."
