Banana (Musa acuminata) is a tropical fruit bearing plant native to Southeast Asia.
Banana comes in a number of varieties. Some of the fruit are eaten raw whereas some varieties are cooked.
Banana fruit is a valuable source for vitamin C, vitamin B6 and potassium.
Its low sodium and high potassium content makes it ideal food for people with hypertension.The use of banana is linked to lowered risk of colon and rectal cancer.
Nearly 36% of the weight is refuse in the form of skin.
